The suitcase bike and the ‘bike in a bag’ idea has been around a while, the newest take on this idea is the Backpack Bike. This novel folding bike by designer Chang Ting Jen folds up into a compact unit that transports on your back.

The designer reduced the weight of the bike by using plastics instead of metal; it weighs in at about 5.5 kg (12 pounds). When fully folded the backpack measures just less than 2 feet in length. The bike can also be switched around to become a hand-cart.

The Backpack bike is very early in the concept stage and it remains to be seen if it’ll ever enter production.
